About the Project
While at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, GWJ PRINCIPALS provided deal structuring assistance to the site developer (Ram Realty) and coordinated the packaging of various local and state grants and tax credits to attract the first Whole Foods Market to the City of Detroit. Whole Foods opened a 21,650 square foot store in 2013 and currently employs 180 people. The total project cost was $12.9 million. The sales performance of the Whole Foods Market has been very profitable and has caused the company to announce its interest in locating a second store in Detroit.
